THE PATH

You came looking for solutions, perhaps; at the least, answers. You walked the situation through – what was at stake, and the choices open to you – and at the end the thing still had not told you what to do. No verdict, no solution, no “here is your answer.” Just your own situation, seen more clearly, handed back to you. You are left wondering what this thing actually does.

This instrument – axios3, withholds nothing from you, because it has nothing to withhold: it can’t tell you what to do, or provide solutions, because it doesn’t hold these – you do. It holds no view you did not bring to it. It is a way of seeing, not a verdict. The answer you are looking for lives inside your situation, seen by you, and nothing outside can author that for you. An answer you are handed is a borrowed thing – it sits on the surface, and moves you about as much as someone else’s conviction ever does.

What it offers you is not a solution to a problem or an answer to a question – it offers a very particular way of seeing. You will find no averaging in it, no algorithm, no probability distribution, no generalised prescription of any kind: it does not work from the general case, because there is no general case – only this one, yours.

No one can hand you the answers you seek, and the pull toward “just tell me” is a natural one – but what it reaches for is not a thing that can be handed over; it can only be seen. The instrument is a kind of lens: it can disclose the view through it, but like all lenses it has no preferences and can never act. The seeing, the preferring, the acting are yours, and yours alone, at your discretion and direction – all of it, as wisdom earned.
